; Doctors have been repeatedly alerted to the increase in claims for professional liability; however, the figures of the cases that effectively continue or even finish a process have not been published systematically in our country. The judicial and ethical system lack comprehensive information systems that allow the publication of statistics on the magnitude of the demands, processes and rulings. This creates difficulties in addressing effective mechanisms to mitigate the impact that demands have on the exercise of a profession such as medicine, through processes of dissemination, training and continuing education. Dr. Escobar in his article 'The medical responsibility of the psychiatrist' 1 provides sufficient elements to take into account for the exercise of this specialty and its eventual impact on claims for professional responsibility. In the group of psychiatry and psychology in 2011, only two requests were received for case analysis for alleged responsibility of psychiatry specialists. The head of this group in the Bogotá Regional indicates that in general there are less than two cases per year that are received for analysis in this specialty. The article published last October 'Statistical analysis of the expert reports for alleged professional responsibility analyzed in the Clinical Group of the Bogotá Regional, of the National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences of Colombia. 2006-2010 "2 did not include in the sample the cases analyzed by the psychiatry group. It is necessary that the scientific medical community continue making investigative and political efforts to improve information on medico-legal aspects related to the work of the medical profession and its impact on the health of the population.

AbstractThe article analyzes the commissioning and production of expert reports about Swedish health care management and governance. We show that these reports are rarely solitary stand‐alone products, but tend to form clusters in an evolving discourse centered around specific policy solutions. We also show that the most important producers of such reports tend to come from a small circle of informally recruited academics and policy experts representing a narrow segment of academic disciplines. We point to some of the risks involved in this structure of knowledge production and argue that reports: (a) may form their own environment rather than address real problems; (b) may reproduce certain taken‐for‐granted assumptions and critical lacunae; (c) may have their impact decided by their network connections rather than by their intellectual content; and (d) represent a structure that provides opportunities for special interests to enter the process.Related ArticlesCaliskan, Cantay. 2020. peer-reviewed ; Executive Summary: The purpose of this action-research project is to effect structural and cultural change in higher level education and research institutes, and particularly in their decision-making bodies and processes so as to create more transparent and inclusive decision-making processes, which will advance gender equality (FESTA, 2012). The partners in this work package are three higher level education and research institutes in Ireland, Italy and Turkey and case studies were undertaken of these organisations. In Ireland, the partner is a government-funded, independent university, which provides research and teaching from undergraduate to postdoctoral levels. In Italy, the partner is a non-profit, independent organisation, which conducts research in technology, science and humanities. In Turkey the partner is one of the oldest and leading research universities, providing research and teaching from undergraduate to postdoctoral levels. We locate this action-research in the context of theories of gender and power. Gender is both an institution and a social construction, which ascribes particular roles, behaviours, activities, and attributes to men and women. Gender schema theory explains how individuals become gendered in society, and how sex-linked characteristics are maintained, transmitted and differently evaluated. French and Bell (1995) argue that the concept of power is central to understanding organisational life, because people devote much of their energies at work trying to accomplish tasks either for themselves or on behalf of others. Power may be defined as the extent to which individuals are able to pursue, or convince others, to take a certain course of action. The essence of power is therefore control over others behaviour (Morley et al, 2004). The questions driving this research are Who has power?; How is power exercised, presented and understood?; and what are the gendered implications of the exercise of power? This work package is concerned with the meaning of power, its ...
